Following his retirement in 2000 Eddy purchased 12 acres in Northeast Texas in the hope of realizing his dream of having a small farm away from the city. Over the years he tried his hand at raising miniature Brahma cattle and also lamas but found both were more than he was able to handle on his own. He next purchased a pair of miniature donkeys and several goats. These were much easier for one man to care for and he found them more personable as well. He began with both Nubians and Nigerian Dwarfs with the plan to breed Miniature Nubians. Over time he achieved the level of 6th generation. [Purebred]
After being hospitalized in 2005 he found he was unable to care for his goats alone. We began a partnership in which I took
over the care and feeding while he continued the management of the herd. This was beneficial to us both as I was taught by the best and he was able to keep his beloved goats.
Late last Fall Eddy was diagnosed with small cell cancer. After a valiant fight that lasted 7 months he passed from this world on August 8th 2011. He left me the business to carry on as his legacy. The Website and farm will continue to be known as Eddys Goat Place.
Eddy was more than a friend to me. He was my partner, mentor and adviser. He will be missed by all who knew him.
